Hi, I’m Jennifer Boudrye, a passionate advocate dedicated to creating a safe and affirming world for the LGBTQ+ community. As a parent of three adults, including a proudly bisexual child, and a bonus mom to a trans man, my journey deeply informs my mission to empower and support families and allies of LGBTQ+ individuals.

My Story

Professionally, I bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table. I worked for more than 17 years as a school librarian in private and public schools (grades PreK – 12). For four years, I served as the Director of Libraries for DC Public Schools hiring, supporting, and training more than 100 librarians to transform library programs for all students in DC Public Schools.  I am the training manager for an LGBTQ+ advocacy nonprofit and former executive director of a youth performing arts nonprofit. When my children were young, I produced &  hosted a radio talk show titled, “Discoverying Kids,” and I created an internet resource directory, “Family NetSource,” that the Washington Post dubbed, “The most comprehensive resource for families in Montgomery County, MD.” Additionally, I am a certified parent coach with master’s degrees in library science and educational leadership.

My Why

As a parent and educator, I witnessed firsthand the profound harm caused by homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia, often in places and from people presumed to be safe. Conversely, I have seen the transformative power of increased awareness and visibility. I understand that many people still have questions and that a lack of awareness can lead to fear and misunderstanding. My approach meets people where they are and gently guides them to a place of enthusiastic, affirming allyship.

I do this work because I believe in the power of empathy, education, and empowerment. Through training, speaking, and coaching, I strive to transform uncertainty into understanding, and apathy into action. I have seen the profound impact that informed and compassionate allies can have on the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals, and I am dedicated to expanding this network of support.

Each coaching session, workshop, and presentation is an opportunity to bridge gaps, challenge misconceptions, and build a more inclusive society. I am driven by the knowledge that when parents, educators, and community leaders are equipped with the right tools and understanding, they can become powerful advocates for change, creating environments where everyone can thrive.

My work is not just a profession; it is a calling deeply rooted in love and a vision for a better world. It is about honoring my children and all LGBTQ+ individuals by ensuring that they are seen, heard, and celebrated for who they are. This is why I do what I do—because every step towards acceptance and allyship is a step towards a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
